18 Weeks!

Our little sapling is now the size of a sweet potato. Baby is busy yawning, rolling, twisting, kicking and punching, hiccuping, sucking and swallowing, phew, that is a lot of work! Oh and baby can hear what is happening outside of the womb, better pick it up on the music and book reading!
COUNTDOWN TILL WE FIND OUT WHETHER OUR BABY IS A BOY OR GIRL: 21 DAYS!!! Please post on the blog what your guess is!!!

This is Jonathan - We are very excited to find out our bebe is a boy or girl!!!  Woot!  Buuut in the meantime friends and family, let's talk pillow talk.  That's right...Pillow.  Talk.  Before we all jump into the traditional realm of whispering sweet nothings to woo loved ones, allow me:  Currently my lovely bride is sleeping with, and this is no exaggeration, 6-8 pillows.  On any given night, her body is wedged, propped, smushed and held into place by a fortress of fluff, down, synthetic fill and memory foam.  I am in there somewhere.  Even with all of this she has such a hard time getting comfortable and sleeping !!  As many of you know, she is a nurse and yesterday (Saturday) she was on call.  She had to go in and help with 2 patients for 5 hours or so.  What did hubby do (after pulling weeds)?  Well, I jumped into ye ol' faithful search engine and typed in two words "Maternity Pillow."  Little did I know that this particular combination of words would yield hundreds of thousands of results, reviews and opinions on which pillows were: too big, too small, had funny seams, had good cases,  had bad cases, were soft, were not soft, were expensive, were good but sold by terrible companies, were made by evil spider monkeys, were a gift from heaven, were a complete waste of money and were so necessary they had replaced the husband in bed.  It was quite an experience and, after 3 hours of synergizing with this particular corner of the internet, I came to this conclusion.  Whoever, and God Bless them, came up with the U-Pillow design had 1.) A sense of humor, 2.) a desire to help the woman sleep and 3.) by far the most important, a desire to mimic natures design of the elephant buttocks and bring it into the bedroom.  Sound far fetched?  I expect you might wonder and so, to put weight to the matter, I've carefully and to scale created the image below:

I'm not complaining and I did finally decide on which one to order for her. I did it out of love.  Fellas, here is my two cents: For the most part, all maternity pillows suck.  However, some less then others.  This means 2 things:  Don't buy a maternity pillow that says it has a "super-soft-omg-baby-seal-cuddle-case-fabric-cover."  It doesn't.  Do buy a maternity pillow that is $69.99, sold by Amazon, qualifies for Amazon Prime and be prepared to either make, or ask a friend/family member to make, a really nice cover.  Think Bamboo fabric or Egyptian Cotton nice.  Tara has been a real trooper even though sleep has been an elusive beast.  We get our pregnancy pillow this Tuesday, which marks the end of the whole "my side of the bed" thing which, in all honesty, I really don't mind ^_^
