Grass.

As of May 15th we will have lived in this house for four years. Every year, all year long we have talked about having a beautiful backyard with lots of grass. No not the most environmentally  responsible thing to do in the middle of the drought, but we did it. And it is beautiful! In fact the overall temperature of our backyard is immensely cooler. We are just itching to be able to run around on it, not too much longer though.
Jonathan organized a sod party and we really had the most amazing friends and neighbora come out and help in our backyard. Special thanks to Steve, Jay, Matt, Ryan, Patrick and Michelle, and Max, who put in all of the tough labor. And for those who came by after work just to admire the hard work and enjoy dinner, Melissa, Tom, Rachel and Kyle. And to my dad, Kelly and Christopher who played with Declan all day!

Steve, our backyard neighbor, really the most awesome neighbors!

Pat and Michelle (Kudos to Michelle for proving she is Super Woman!)

Kyle loved the dirt more than the grass!

The kiddo who normally doesn't like his hands dirty LOVED the dirt. A boy after my own heart!

Also my apologies for our three week hiatus from the blog. I finished up my first semester of school and already start back next week, we had tons of yard work in progress and we took a quick trip to Portland this past weekend. Hopefully we will get back on a better schedule and maybe Big Daddy Tree will write one of the blog posts he keeps telling me that he wants to write!

  2. Your yard is huge! The grass looks awesome! We put grass in last summer and our area was super small but it was so much work, so I can just imagine all the work you guys had to put in. Enjoy your hard work and beautiful yard!
