Day 13 – Thankful for messy eaters and contagious giggles

Thankful for Jonathan’s intact sense of humor. Intact…yes intact! If you had been around to witness the shenanigans that have been present in the Maple house, you too would say intact. In the past week we have had all of our plumbing replaced, our plaster walls cut open, forgotten faucets sawed off, plaster walls attempted to be patched up. There is dry wall and plaster back in place, but it does not match, color or texture, to our previous walls…lovely! I had some minor head trauma. Oh and Jonathan’s car died on Thursday evening in the middle of 4th street (he made the most of that by having a chicken sandwich at Church's Chicken will stranded). The news today on the car is that it is going to be expensive to fix. All of these things come with a very hefty price tag and of course they all happen in the same few day time span. So when everything else seems to be falling apart and blowing up around us, we are thankful for each other.

Thankful that my mom drove me to work and we were able to gab a little bit in the car on the way. Thankful that my coworkers are awesome and that I really love my job. Thankful that I got to have lunch with my friend Maria. Thankful that Jonathan and Declan picked me up from work and made dinner.  Thankful that Declan loves pumpkin ravioli and broccoli. Thankful that he loved the food enough to eat a lot of it, but also to rub it in his hair, face and eyes. Thankful that messy eating and a poopy diaper prompted a shower. Thankful that our night was filled with contagious giggles as Jonathan and Declan rinsed the stresses of the last few days right down the drain.

Thankful that it is perfectly acceptable to admit that this has been a rough week in the Maple house. Rough, yet rewarding. Bewildering, yet blessed and in the words of the great and wise Albus Dumbledore. "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."

Another teaser from our session with Bethany!
Much Love,

  3. I hate weeks when everything seems to happen at once! This too shall pass... Meanwhile, I LOVE this picture. Can you guys please dial back the cuteness?! You are making me jealous that my babies are the furry four-legged kind!
